Virechan Kriya: The second stage of Panchakarma treatment is Virechana. Virechana is the process of excretion. In this process, toxins are removed from the intestines. In the process of Virechana, you are given medicines that work to remove toxins from your intestines.

Which patients are treated?

Virechana is given to patients suffering from the following diseases: Acidity, constipation, duodenal disease, irritable bowel syndrome with obstruction, piles, scurvy, jaundice, liver disease, gastrointestinal disease, chronic fever, abdominal swelling, vomiting, eczema, psoriasis-urticaria, skin diseases, urinary tract, filariasis, herpes, asthma, obesity, diabetes, etc.

Which patients are not treated?

The following people should not be given laxatives: Diarrhea, dysentery, menopausal patients, diseases associated with bleeding in the stomach like ulcers, pregnant women, people below 16 years of age and above 65 years of age, weak people, those who have recently undergone stomach surgery.

For 3 to 7 days, the person undergoing laxatives is given medicated ghee or oil according to his strength. During that time, he is asked to eat warm water and light food when hungry. The person is massaged with oil every day and given a sweat bath with steam. After the Sneha Siddha, a rest period of 1-2 days is kept, so that the stool disturbed by the Sneha Siddha can accumulate in the stomach.

On the morning of the day of laxatives, the patient is given an appropriate amount of laxatives. Within a few hours, he starts having diarrhea. At this time, the patient is asked to drink warm water, which helps in this process.

After the laxative action stops, the patient is given soft, light food for the next few days.

Caution:

It is important to apply oil and sweat thoroughly before Virechana Kriya.
The amount of laxative should be right so that it does not cause excessive dehydration.

Benefits:

The entire body, especially the digestive system, urogenital system, reproductive system, etc., and organs like the liver, are cleansed by this week-long purification ritual.
