Vamana Karma: Benefits of Ayurvedic Induced Vomiting Therapy

Vamana therapy: Ayurveda tries to cure diseases naturally. In such cases, Vamana Karma can be considered as the best treatment. Ayurveda not only treats the root cause through medicines but also tries to improve your overall health by changing your diet and lifestyle.

The Panchakarma therapy present in Ayurveda is used to eliminate Vata, Pita, and Kapha. When these doshas increase in the body, they are advised to detoxify them and Panchakarma therapy plays an important role.

One such important treatment in Panchakarma therapy is the use of Vamana Karma to remove toxins from the body directly or through vomiting.

Why is Vamana therapy given?

The chest area is the location of Kapha dosha. It is very easy to remove the increased Kapha through the oral route, hence Vamana therapy is used.

Due to the increase in Kapha dosha in our body, there can be some irregularities, which can cause many serious problems like cold cough, obesity, anemia, etc., therefore, Vamana treatment is considered to be the most effective.

Primary treatment method of Vamana:

Before applying Vamana, Kapha-increasing foods like curd, sweet, and basmati rice are given to the patient the previous night. This is done to increase Kapha so that it is forcefully removed from the body system.

The next day, a drink is included in the Vamana using medicines, in which Linden, Licorice, and Calamus root tea are given. This drink induces vomiting in the patient and the tongue is kept rubbing.

In this way, the patient expels all the Kapha and after some time feels light and good.

What precautions should be taken during vomiting:

Some special precautions should be taken during vomiting therapy, so that there is no problem in your body, such as –
