The report published in the Journal of Addiction states that smoking one cigarette shortens a man's life expectancy by 17 minutes and a woman's life expectancy by 22 minutes.

According to the said research, if a person smokes 10 cigarettes in a day and he quits smoking this January, then one day of life loss can be reduced till January 8. He can extend his life expectancy by one week till February 5th and by one month till August 5th. If you don't smoke for a full year, you can reduce your risk by 50 days. Some people waste 10 years of their life by smoking.
