How can bleeding from a wound be stopped?

If you or someone close to you is injured and bleeding, you can provide first aid in the following ways –

1. First of all, the injured person needs to remain calm because panic can increase the heart rate and cause high blood pressure, which can lead to more bleeding.
2. Lay the person down as soon as possible.
3. Do not move the injured area.
4. If the wound is on the person’s head, neck, back, or legs, do not move the person.
5. If there is dust or cloth stuck to the wound, try to remove it.
6. Do not try to remove a weapon or other object embedded in the skin. Doing so can cause further damage and increase bleeding.
7. Place a bandage or a clean cloth over the wound and apply pressure to stop the bleeding.
8. If the wound is in the eye, do not apply pressure to it.
9. If possible, keep the injured area above the level of the heart.
10. If the blood still comes out after applying the bandage, do not remove the bandage but apply more bandage and apply pressure to it.
11. If the bleeding stops, do not remove the bandage and try to see the wound. Doing so may cause the bleeding to start again.
12. After the bleeding stops, place a cloth or other bandage over the bandage so that the bandage does not slip from its place. After this, place an ice pack on the bandage.
