Chocolate

Bad news for chocolate lovers. Earlier, it was a habit of everyone to eat sweets on any occasion or good news. But now times have changed. Now people prefer to eat chocolate instead of sweets during happy times. Many people consider chocolate to be beneficial for their health and therefore consume it in large quantities.

The Dark Side of Chocolate

However, what has been revealed by a recent experiment by American scientists is bad news for chocolate lovers. Tests have found toxic metals in many chocolates. Which can be very dangerous for health.

According to the report of the New York Post, in research conducted by the University of Washington in the United States, many chocolate products were found to contain toxic metals lead and cadmium. In this study, scientists analysed 72 chocolate products made from cocoa for 8 years. Which included dark chocolate. The research revealed that 43 percent of the chocolate products had lead levels above the prescribed limit, while 35 percent of the products had cadmium levels above the requirement. The cause of concern is that more toxic metals were found in the organic matter.

"These metals can be present in chocolate products either from the soil or during production," the researchers said. In this experiment, different brands of chocolate and different types of chocolate were taken. Concerns have arisen after many products were found to contain high levels of toxic metals.

Lead is a highly toxic element that can accumulate in the body for long periods of time. Exposure to it has adverse effects on the nervous system, kidneys, and heart. These toxins can affect a child's mental development as soon as they enter the body. Similarly, cadmium is a toxic metal and can affect the kidneys and bones. Long-term exposure to it can lead to many serious diseases, including weak bones and kidney disease.

High levels of these substances can enter chocolate during production and processing. Cacao plants absorb toxic metals from the soil and enter the chocolate. Be careful if you or your children are eating too much chocolate. Try to limit the amount of chocolate you eat.
