Deafening Reality: 100M Young People at Risk of Hearing Loss by 2050
Today's youth often walk around with earbuds, headphones or earphones in their ears. So that they are not even aware of the various events happening around him. But think for a moment, what would happen if all people actually became deaf?
It may sound scary to think this, but it is true. The World Health Organization has already given a warning about this. A WHO report has revealed that more than 100 million young people will become deaf in the next few years.
WHO Warns of Impending Deafness Crisis Among You
The World Health Organization's Make Hearing Safe guidelines estimate that by 2050, more than 100 million young people worldwide may be deaf or hard of hearing. The age of this youth group will be between 12-35 years. Poor listening habits can be the cause, the guidelines say. Now about 50% of young people (12-35 years old) have lost their hearing due to various reasons. Out of this, 25 percent of people have the habit of listening to something continuously at high volume on devices such as earphones, earbuds and headphones. Similarly, 50% of people are exposed to loud music or entertainment in public places for long periods of time. So using these devices too much can make you deaf.
The noise level of personal devices is usually 75-136 decibels. However, it may vary in different countries. So users should keep the volume of their devices between 75-105 decibels. However, using the device at a volume of 20-30 decibels is safe for the ears, the doctor said. Apart from this, you can avoid such risk by using these devices for very less or limited time. If used continuously for a long time, the sensory cells of the ear are damaged.
Deafness caused by using these devices can never be cured. Listening to loud sounds for long periods of time can damage the high-frequency nerves. It cannot be healed. No surgery or medicine works to heal this nerve. So you can keep your ears healthy by using such devices as little as possible.
