4-Year-Old in Gujarat Diagnosed with HMPV Infection

HMPV Infection in Gujrat: Cases of Human Metapneumovirus i.e. HMPV are increasing rapidly in Gujarat, this is the fifth case of HMPV in Ahmedabad within just 10 days. Recently, a four-year-old child is infected with HMPV.

According to media reports, information has been received from the health officials of Ahmedabad that on Wednesday, a child resident of Krishnanagar was infected with HMPV, and was admitted to the hospital due to diseases like cough, cold, flu, and fever. After hospitalization, when the symptoms of the child were examined, he was tested and in the report, he was found positive for HMPV.

6 cases in Gujarat:

After the HMPV infection was found in a 4-year-old boy, the total number of HMPV cases in Ahmedabad has become 4. Apart from this, one case has been found in Gujarat's Sabarkantha district and one in Kutch district. Including this new case, there have been 6 cases in Gujarat. Health experts are also advised to be cautious and get tested if symptoms are felt.

Difficulty in identification:

Like Covid 19, the HMPV virus also causes symptoms like cold, cough, and flu. In such a situation, most people start having symptoms like cold and cough in winter; sometimes the positive case remains unidentified for a long time. This situation can also increase the risk of spreading HMPV infection.

Cases of death due to HMPV in Lucknow:

A case of death of a woman infected with HMPV has also come to light in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The woman died during the treatment for HMPV infection. However, the woman was already suffering from TB, kidney disease, and heart-related diseases, due to which she also got HMPV infection and died during treatment.
